Ade Pitman. MA Military History
Having a lifelong interest in all things military, and particularly the Second World War and aviation, the author of this website served nine years in the Royal Air Force, at home and overseas. During this time they became a tour guide at Fort Eben-Emael, Belgium, and toured the battlefields of Europe.
Upon returning to the UK, the author became ‘a friend of the Normandy Veteran’s Association and was privileged to be the carer of Private Burt Dawe of the 53rd Welch Regiment, during his pilgrimage to the area for the 65th Anniversary.
Since then, the author has visited the region many times for research; completing their Master’s thesis on, ‘How the weather affected Air Operations during the Normandy Campaign.’ This research is currently being compiled into a book, and a publisher is being sought. Working as a University Lecturer, the author is a private pilot, having published books on his aerial adventures.
Ade is keen to hear from you if you were a Veteran of the Normandy campaign with memories of the weather, or operational Typhoons, or a relative.
